Welcome to the Colorado River Schools website.
The Bullhead City Elementary School District was founded in 1947, with the building of a one room, "Little Red School House." The district now includes six schools, four elementary and two junior high schools. Our modern facilities serve approximately 3,000 students, pre-kindergarten through eighth grades.
Colorado River Union High School District was formed in 1989 and includes Mohave and River Valley High Schools and the CRUHSD Academy. Presently, approximately 2,000 students enjoy attending one of these schools.
For the better part of the past three decades, the Districts have operated largely independent of each other. In recent years, however, the Governing Boards have worked to align programs and resources at every possible opportunity, eventually resulting in a merged District Office under the banner of “Colorado River Schools” in 2015.
Today the Districts share leadership and business officials including the Superintendents, Directors, Human Resources, Accounts Payables, Transportation, Maintenance and Technology employees all under the same roof. In so doing, both districts have benefited greatly through increased collaboration, curricular and programmatic alignment, and of course, fiscal efficiencies.
It is the goal of the Districts to provide quality services that meet the individual needs of our student population. Principals and teachers work collaboratively with parents and students to enhance learning and contribute to a positive school climate. Our Districts’ well-trained staff provides an array of services through traditional and nontraditional means, special services, and alternative programs.
We pride ourselves with providing a well-rounded education based upon the needs of the whole child. With preschool programs, cutting edge technology, physical education, art, and music programs at every campus, our students are certain to reach greater heights in every aspect of their lives.
The Districts currently operate on “Flex Calendar.” The recently extended school day provides students the opportunity to obtain the same number of “seat time” hours in four days as was previously obtained in five. Our teachers utilize the first Friday of each month for professional development and our students are able to attend two more Fridays per month to obtain additional intervention and enrichment, previously unavailable via the traditional calendar.
In short, we are extremely proud of our schools and the advancements we are making every day. Please take time to review our site and let us know of any suggestions you might have for its improvement. If we can be of further assistance in any way, please do not hesitate to contact our district offices at (928)758-3961.
